California Working Families Policy Summit 2009

Hosted by the California Center for Research on Women and Families (CCRWF), the 2009 California Working Families Policy Summit was held on Tuesday, January 13, at the Sacramento Convention Center, with approximately 650 policy leaders attending, including over 80 legislative members and staff.

The Summit helped launch the legislative session by releasing policy proposals on issues affecting California's working families, including budget reform, health care, child care, preschool, after-school care, CalWORKs, mental health, asset building, housing, food stamps, foster care and paid sick days.

Senate President pro Tempore Darrell Steinberg provided the luncheon keynote to a sold-out audience.

Summit recommendations are available to download below.

Co-sponsors of the Summit included the California Legislative Women's Caucus; the Black, Latino, Asian Pacific Islander and LGBT Legislative Caucuses; the California Commission on the Status of Women, and more than 70 nonprofit organizations.

Funders of the Summit included Kaiser Permanente and SEIU-UHW, The California Endowment, and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
