Helping to Connect Kids to SFSP
Developed in Spring 2009
CCRWF is working with the Nutrition Services Division of the California Department of Education (CDE) and the California Legislative Women’s Caucus to increase outreach to families and children eligible for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).
During this tough economic recession and budget crisis, participation in SFSP can be a valuable resource for low-income families - and it’s a way for the state to draw down federal dollars.
To support legislators in educating their constituents about SFSP, CCRWF worked with our partners to develop a packet of educational outreach materials that includes the following:
- Backgrounder on the SFSP
- Checklist for Legislative Outreach for SFSP
- SFSP Resources
- Summer Meal Program data from California Food Policy Advocates
- Outreach Poster
- Parent Flyer
CDE has also made available the following:
