Staff and Partners
Kate Karpilow is the Executive Director of the California Center for Research on Women and Families (CCRWF), a program of the Public Health Institute. For over 25 years, Ms. Karpilow has managed policy projects and conducted research in the areas of child welfare, welfare reform, child care, working families, and health care. At CCRWF, Ms. Karpilow directs the California Working Families Policy Project and the Primer Project, both of which she founded. Ms. Karpilow has worked in a variety of positions in local and state government and as a consultant to philanthropic foundations. From 1988-1996, she served as the Executive Director of the California Elected Women’s Association for Education and Research (CEWAER), now known as California Women Lead. Ms. Karpilow received a Ph.D. from Harvard University in Psychology and Social Relations.
