Amy Lemley, Policy Director of the John Burton Foundation, updates:
Since the Summit, AB 12 passed successfully out of the Assembly Human Services Committee on April 14th. It now moves onto the Assembly Appropriations Committee. Additionally, Professor Mark Courtney released a cost-benefit analysis of the bill and found that for every $1 invested to support foster youth after age 18, there is a $2.41 return on investment. This study was the centerpiece of a successful press event that was held on March 9th:
Media Advisory • Agenda • AB 12 Fact Sheet • List of Sponsors and Co-authors • Press Release • Governor’s Support Statement • Summary of Dr. Courtney’s report • John Burton Foundation Fact Sheet • Foster Care Populations by County
